Mawqiti — Privacy Policy

Mawqiti (“the app”, “we”) is a prayer-time alarm and companion app. We designed it to be private: there are no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. This policy explains what data the app processes and why.

Data the app processes

Location. With your permission, the app uses your device’s location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. This happens on your device. Your coordinates are not stored on any server we control and are not linked to your identity.
Place-name lookup (geocoding). To show your city name, or to resolve a city you type in the flight planner, coordinates or text are sent to your operating system’s geocoding service (Apple on iOS, Google on Android).
Timezone lookup (flight planner). When you plan a flight, the departure and destination coordinates are sent to timeapi.io to determine each city’s timezone. This requires an internet connection; offline, timezones are estimated on-device instead.
Feedback. If you use the in-app “Send Feedback” form, the message you write — and an email address only if you choose to enter one — is sent through Web3Forms so we can read it. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
On-device data. Your settings, alarms, presets, saved flights, Hijri reminders, and any audio you import are stored only on your device (in the app’s local storage). We cannot see them.

What we do not do

We do not require an account or a sign-in.
We do not show ads.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for marketing.
We do not build a profile of you across apps or websites.

Third-party services

When the features above run, data is handled by these providers under their own privacy policies:

Apple / Google (device geocoding and maps services)
timeapi.io (timezone detection)
Web3Forms (feedback delivery)

Permissions

Location — prayer-time and Qibla calculation.
Notifications — to alert you at prayer and alarm times.
Motion / compass sensors — for the live Qibla compass.
Files — only when you choose to import a custom sound.

You can change these permissions any time in your device settings; some features will be limited without them.

Data retention and deletion

All app data lives on your device. Deleting the app removes it. You can also clear individual items (alarms, saved flights, imported sounds) inside the app. Feedback you send by email remains in our inbox until we delete it.

Children

Mawqiti is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

Because the app keeps your data on your device and uses secure (HTTPS) connections for the limited network features above, your information is not exposed to us or transmitted except as described.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected in the app’s store listing.
